Caso 1
Multiplique el número de miles de pies a perder entre 3. La velocidad de tierra (GroundSpeed) entre 2 y luego multiplique por 10, obtendrá la rata de descenso ideal para un glide slope de 3 grados.
Ejemplo:
FL350 a FL100 => 25000 pies a descender (usaremos el número 25)
25 x 3 = 75 (el descenso iniciar a 75nm del objetivo)
GS= 320kts => ((320 / 2) * 10) = 1600 (1600 ft es la velocidad vertical ideal)

Caso 2
Inicie descenso cuando el tiempo al aeropuerto sea igual a la altitud a perder por 1000ft/min
Ejemplo:
Para descender 10000ft, inicie el descenso 10 minutos antes a una velocidad vertical de 1000ft/min

Caso 3
Divida la diferencia entre la altitud crucero y la altitud a descender por la velocidad vertical a utilizar. El valor resultante es el tiempo a descender. Multiplique este valor por su GroundSpeed en crucero y divida el resultado entre 60. El resultado es el DME que necesita para iniciar su descenso.
Ejemplo:
FL360 a 6000 => 30000 pies a descender
3000 / 1500 (velocidad vertical) = 20 minutos (tiempo del descenso)
Ahora, (20*420 kts)/60 = 140nm (distancia al punto deseado)
